A compelling account of Nick Leeson, the General Manager of Barings Singapore, on how he brought one of the most well-established and respected financial institution to its knees. It unveils how a simple cover-up of a mistake by an inexperienced member of staff can spiral into multi-million pound losses. Like F.I.A.S.C.O., Mr. Leeson explains in layperson's terms on how he speculated the derivatives markets (in particular, futures and options on the Japanese Nikkei Index), which snowballed into huge losses. He shows how an escalating addiction to reckless speculation led to more cover-ups and finally his own arrest. Highly recommended.
