Liar's Poker

Michael Lewis

Michael Lewis retired from being a bond salesman at the age of 28, having risen from being a mere trainee at Salomon Brothers (now Shroders Salomon Smith Barney) to become one of Salomon's more celebrated bond salesman. First published in 1989, now in its third edition, this book is becoming ever more indispensable for those wanting to take a glimpse at the boom and bust of the bond market during the 80s.

Readers who are not familiar with bonds can gradually pick up a great deal of knowledge from this book. However, this does not in anyway interfere with the witty, vivid and well-written account of the author's experience as a bond salesman at the investment bank. Highly recommended.
